Massage therapy treatment for Highly Sensitive (HSP) Children
Highly Sensitive Children = HSP Children
Also known as heightened perception through the senses.
For HSP children, it is comforting to feel calm in the nervous system, to talk to an expert by experience who understands them, and to be guided in learning how to cope with this high sensitivity. As so often overstimulation of the nervous system occurs.
Massage therapy treatment (over clothes)
There is no general massage therapy approach for HSP children. Each child develops in their own unique way. To support your child effectively, this requires a refined method that is individually tailored to what your child is currently going through. Prior to the massage therapy treatment I’d love to hear from parents/guardians/the child a little bit more about their difficulties. For example these things:
- What difficulties the child encounters in daily life. As a parent/guardian, you often already observe many things
- What are its fears and worries?
- When or where does overload of the senses appear?
- What are the specific physical/emotional complaints?
Depending on your story as a parent and your child’s story, I will draw up the massage therapy treatment plan tailored to your HSP child’s difficulties. The goal of which is to make the child more body-aware so that they can better manage cope their own sensitivity.
Massage therapy techniques applied in the treatment
- Optimizing body-awareness: learning to feel and set physical/energetic/emotional boundaries
- Breathing techniques: train a regular breathing rythm to assist calming down
- Stretching and massage therapy techniques on the chest/abdominal area to optimize breathing
- Reflexology expecially on endings of the nervous system(the head/hands/feet) for the release of nervous tension (overload)
- Optimize blood circulation
- Calm to consciously process any changes in the physical/emotional/nervous system
After the massage therapy treatment took place, a key exercise that is custom fit to your HSP child will be given to enhance the effect of the session. These could be one of the following
- Mindfulness exercise: a visualisation to help calm the child’s senses
- Body-awareness exercise: to strenghten physical awareness and set boundaries
- Breathing exercise
- Reflexology points to help release nervous tension
Please feel free to send me some extra information about the child in advance. This enables me to tune in on the child before the session starts. You can contact me either by e-mail: bomispi@gmail.com or

Frequent complaints of HSP children
not being able to stay long in a shopping mall, having nightmares, restless sleep, seeing ghosts, being afraid for hunches about something that hasn’t happened yet, absorbing other people’s feelings, being angry out of the blue- without knowing the reason why etc, etc.
With a lifelong experience as a Super Highly Sensitive it’s my turn to do something back for all the sensitive sweethearts in this world. And also to support their parents/guardians. I followed in depth training on the Highly Sensitive Children/Persons subject to assist you more adequately. It’s an honour to help you out of the daily struggle with your sensitive child!
Good to know
Consent from both parents/guardians is required prior to treatment for a child under the age of 16. Children from ages of 12 to 16 have to give me their permission as well to give them therapy and their will is leading. 16-Year-old Children are allowed to make their own therapy choice. See the “important information” tab for more information.
